Information for schools with ACET recognised teachers

This section outlines the actions required from principals who have a teacher who is applying or receives an Advanced Classroom Expertise Teacher (ACET) allowance.

About Advanced Classroom Expertise Teacher recognition
To recognise exemplary practice in primary teaching, the Advanced Classroom Expertise Teacher (ACET) allowance was introduced as part of the settlement of the Primary Teachers’ Collective Agreement 2019 - 2022 (PTCA).

The ACET allowance recognises that there are primary teachers who have developed an exemplary level of classroom practice. It provides an alternative career pathway (as opposed to formalised leadership and management roles) for teachers who want to stay in the classroom and who have developed their expertise to a level above that of the Experienced Teachers Professional Standards.

A recognised ACET will receive an ongoing additional $5,000 allowance per annum.
