Pre-approved overseas teaching qualifications
We know overseas teachers can make a big contribution to the number of teachers available to work in New Zealand.
New Zealand schools can recruit an overseas teacher when they cannot find a suitable candidate at home.
To make it more efficient for overseas teachers to work in New Zealand, a number of overseas teaching qualifications have been pre-approved, meaning they don’t need an International Qualifications Assessment (IQA) from NZQA comparing the qualification to those listed on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.
Applications from teachers with pre-approved qualifications may be fast-tracked through NZQA and Education Council processes, saving $746 in costs.
