Teach First NZ

Teach First NZ recruits top graduates and professionals into schools where they teach while completing a postgraduate teaching qualification. Teach First NZ typically attracts higher numbers of Māori and Pacific recruits, and specialists in shortage subjects.

People selected by Teach First NZ go through an intensive 8-week preparation for teaching and are then employed for two years in schools that serve low-income communities.

Through this programme there will be up to 100 new teachers starting in classrooms in 2020. A further 100 places will be available for the 2021 and 2022 cohorts.
