Further personal writing skills through the attendance of professional writing courses, mentoring through the NZ Society of Authors and the development of research skills with assistance from staff at NZ Archives, the Hocken Library and the Turnbull Library.

To investigate ways of dealing with the increasing workload of deputy principals in Area Schools.
Taipa Area School
Review the Saskatoon Public School Board project 'Literacy for Life' looking at how it was set up, the results achieved, training undertaken by teaching staff and the assessment they used. Read the book 'Teaching Beginning Reading and Writing with the Picture Word Induction Model by Emily F. Calhoun' (a program linked to the Literacy for Life program). Once reviewed the applicant plans to view the program in action and develop the resources needed to incorporate them in their current school.
Broadwood Area School
Develop literacy resources for Māori students in Māori Years 1-10, learning levels 1-4, aligned to the requirements of the NZ Curriculum, for students of Broadwood Area School.
Ponatahi Christian School
To be involved in the practical side of aviation to give more depth to aviation lessons.
Mercury Bay Area School
To observe and record elements of sound practise that best prepare senior students in NZ area schools to transition from the secondary school setting to tertiary education and/or the work place.
